The soldier would smile widely himself, knowing that he had succeeded in learning the technique and how to use it in an effective manner. He straightened himself and extended a hand out to his officer, who took it without hesitation, finding no shame in asking a lower-ranking to help him get back up on his feet. This was no formal occasion, after all. This was Kai Lu's training session, and in here, Kai Lu wanted his soldiers to focus more on training and improving themselves than having to worry about etiquette before rank. Of course, regimental discipline would still play a part in whatever they did, but as long as his soldiers learned, he was fine with such acts. He got back up on his feet, brushing the dust off his shirt, before placing a firm hand on his shoulder.
"Good job, that was a steady throw. However, your build up took a bit too long. A skilled fighter would be able to counter you before you even lift him off the ground. Your target should already be halfway to the ground by the time he realizes what you're doing. Got it?"
"Yes, sir!" The man nodded his head, and Kai Lu waved him off. "Carry on, then." And the soldier wandered off to train with his fellow students. Satisfied at the quick production of results of the training session, he wondered if he could actually end it early today. This was the only thing in that day's agenda, after all. He crossed his arms, glancing around, before finding his eyes ceasing to move as they came upon the Princess, who seemed to be in a heavy conversation with Sumire, but her eyes were on him.
He blinked, finding himself staring back, rather curious and confused as to what was making the princess seem so... Nervous.

Her gaze shifting as she frowned. Sumire was not the type to fantasize like the Princess. She did not have such idle time, and what little she did have went towards training and improving her dancing techniques. So it was no big surprise that the girl was unable to grasp this line of conversation.
However, as the girl spoke again, Sumire let out a "hmm?" and let her gaze float down to the girl. "Ahh, no it is not." She knew a filler when she heard one. The conversation was one that the girl wanted to talk about but could not bring herself to do so. Sumire had no idea what it was she wanted to talk about, and thus was unable to answer the question for her. While Sumire was often good at guessing such things, she was no mind reader, and thus this time she was left in the dark.
She jerked though as the girl grabbed onto her, spazzing instantly. Sumire, shocked as she was, laughter bubbled from between her lips before she could stop it. Her face contorted, surprise registering on her face as she slammed her hand over her lips, attempting to catch the sound. Once she had restored herself to appropriate 'Sumire' behavior, she spoke, her tone soothing. "He is perfectly fine. He has trained for such falls. Look, he is back on his feet. Do you think if he were injured he would be able to get back up?"
She glanced up, the male was staring at the Princess, confusion on his face. She sighed slightly, head shaking. "The only way his men will learn the moves properly, is by practicing them with a skilled opponent, as their teacher, that is his job. Reward him for doing a good one, smile at him or something." Sumire shrugged, not sure how a Princess could reward a soldier without seeming to favor him. |

“He is alright?! I hope so…” Nao then looked at Kai Lu who had stood up like nothing happened. She glanced back at Sumire. “It seems so…”She gently nodded, though her hands were still clutching to Sumire’s sleeve like a big earthquake had just trembled the ground they were on. Recovering from the overwhelming event (to her, maybe) of witnessing the men’s ruffian battle, Nao’s mind blanked out. She could feel her heart beating too quickly because she worried for Kai Lu’s condition which she thought was going to be fatal for him.
She sighed, attempting to force her heart’s beats to go back to its regular rhythm. She released Sumire’s tormented sleeve from her forceful hands before placing them back to her sides. And then came Sumire’s encouragement to reward Kai Lu for his efforts. ’Right, so I just need to smile at him. Like normal. Let’s do this, Nao!’ |
[/i] She stared at the officer who was still discussing things over with the soldier he had just had a friendly battle with. ‘Smile at him’ was not a very easy phrase to be put into action. How should she smile at him? When should she smile at him? Like now, when he was occasionally looking at where the girls were sitting at? When would look this way again? ’Stop discussing! Look this way! Turrrrrrn thiiiiiiis waaaaaaaaaay, yeah, yeah yeah! ‘Kay, smile n—Waaaait don’t turn back!’[/i] With complicated internal debates going on within her mind in split seconds, her conscious mind snapped and made her shout instead. ”GO FOR IT! GOOD LUCK! DO YOUR BEST!” Nao really meant it only for Kai Lu because she was not in her right state of mind. She didn’t rationally think about the consequences of doing so, which most likely would give out a message of ‘special treatment’ to others who were there watching. How could she remember about the other soldiers present in the hall? Thankfully, it was also because of her drained mind stamina that she had forgotten to address Kai Lu specifically. Close call! Kai Lu's eyes widened, the sudden outburst of volume from the young Princess prompting him and everyone else in the hall to cease in their activities and glance towards her. That had been completely unexpected, wasn't it? Not only the encourage, but the volume as well. He never realized the Princess could be so passionate towards the training of his soldiers. The Officer glanced around, noticing then the ever-lifting morale of his students, and smiled satisfyingly. And his golden irises would then return to Princess Nao's direction, and he gave her a grateful smile and a bow. The lesson was actually progressing much, much faster than it had ever before, for this was perhaps the first time the Princess had openly graced his training session with her presence.
Straightening himself, then, he turned his attention to his soldiers, watching as they moved with more intent, and yelled with more ferocity. Yes, Kai Lu implemented yelling and roaring with every act they did, for it often allowed one to properly transmit their aggression. In the battlefield, aggression was a highly important factor of one's approach to a battle. If one was not ready to hurt his opponent, then they shouldn't expect to win at all. And not five minutes later, Kai Lu would then bring his hands up, clapping it a few times. Recognizing the gesture, the soldiers slowed to a halt, every single one looking towards him.
"Alright, men. I'll give you guys a fifteen minute water break. Go drink up and rest." The soldiers would nod their heads in acknowledgement, before releasing their fighting stances and proceeding towards the sides of the training hall, where their bags and respective belongings were. Kai Lu was left in the center of the hall, as he gazed upon his troops, taking note of their welfare. Training was important and all, but if Kai Lu could not take care of his soldiers, who would? Water breaks and pauses in between training was always a good way to not only allow them to recover their energy, but ensure that exhaustion did not seep away their morale as well.
He took a deep breathe, before proceeding to his own set of belongings. He would stretch a right hand out, then, intending to pick his towel up, only to realize that he no longer had his towel with him, having passed it to the Princess. He blinked, staring at his raised hand, before chuckling. Silly him.

Her head shaking in amusement. Sometimes the Princess was too cute for her own good, but it had worked and that was enough. The men fought with more vigor, taking to things she was not sure she could so easily take to. She was impressed. The man before her was obviously worth more credit than she had given him. Her arms crossed over her chest, she remained quiet as the training progressed.
At break, her brow raised, gaze going to the other men and then back to Kai-lu, she smirked, kneeling down she whispered into the Princesses ear - not entirely nice of her, she knew, but hey she ha to get some fun out of this day somehow. "Why don't you go return the towel to the boy? It's probably dry enough for him to use now. Not to mention, he appears to be quite lost without it." |

At Sumire’s mention of how Kai Lu had appeared to need a towel, she couldn’t help but noticed that she had most certainly troubled him to some degree. She panicked, and agreed with Sumire that she should return the towel to him. ”You’re right, Sumire! This towel must be the solution to his current predicament, I’ll go return it!” She clutched onto it, and paused for a moment. ”…But how should I return it to him? Do I need to fold it a certain way? Should I make it into a crown shape like how the restaurants usually fold our cloth napkins on the tables?” She spent a few more minutes looking for the best way to fold it, but time was of essence in this case, so she decided to return it conventionally folded into a rectangle shape.
Nao stood up, then walked across the hall to hand Kai Lu his towel. With her arms extended, she bowed, holding the neatly folded towel in hand. ”I’m sorry!” she spoke. ”Thank you!”
Surely she could do better than that. She knew Sumire was going to be so frustrated at her not being able to say anything much. She had practiced thanking Kai Lu many times on her short walk, but perhaps 10 times just wasn’t enough practice. Well, there really wasn’t much that she could do, so she rose up. ”Really, I’m grateful. What can I do to pay you back?” |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:320px,bTable] i carry the strength of souls now gone As the sound of footsteps came closer towards his position, Kai Lu would turn his head to address the incoming arrival, only to be surprised as he realized it was the Princess herself. He blinked, evidently confused as to why she had come to him, when he saw the towel in her hand. She bowed, handing it over to her. And of course, he panicked. I’m sorry! Thank you!” He reached forward, gently grabbing her shoulders and trying to straighten her posture. "It's okay, Princess. Please, you do not have to bow. I do not deserve such a gesture." After all, being a lowly officer, it was he who was required to bow first, and an optional choice for the higher-up to decide whether to return it. He was no one to be bowed to, and all these low self-esteem perspectives stemmed from the fact that he was a young officers, and the others never failed to remind him of that.
That, and he truly was a soldier at heart.
Realizing then that he had forcefully touched her, and he quickly pulled his hands away. "Ah, sorry." And this time, it was he who bowed his head. ”Really, I’m grateful. What can I do to pay you back?” He straightened himself then, before giving her a soft smile, shaking his head. "It is fine, Princess. I am glad to have been of service." He replied, as expected of the born subject of the Imperial Family. Nonetheless, he would take the towel and use it to gently wipe his sweat, not wanting to look brutish at all the someone of the emperor's blood. She was still, though, right in front of him, and he found himself at a loss of words.
"So, uhm... How are you, Princess?" He inquired, trying to strike up conversation in what was already a rather awkward moment.
