Her father was rarely home, and when he was there, he was still stuck in whatever work he was doing at the time. Her mother, though she first acted like a usual mother during the first half of Kim's life, eventually became more social outside the family and paid Kim little mind as the girl got older. They tried to make up for this by getting Kim anything she wished for without much second thought. Toys, books, furniture, and even building a new room from scratch at one point. Kim, however, never felt fully satisfied with any of it. She really wanted to spend time with family deep down.At 12, Kim convinced her mother to let Kim come with her to one of her outings with other women of the upper district. Kim thought it would be the perfect way to spend time with her mom again, but soon her mother broke away from her, Kim stuck with a few of the women in the social outing. The girl listened to the women's gossiping, getting on the subject of how rebels were getting smarter and knew how to break into the upper district. Kim was scared and, once home, asked to take self-defense lessons in case if ever happened to them. Her parents, just like always, signed her up without even thinking about what she asked for. It didn't take long for the classes to start, her instructor being a female knight. She instructed the girl starting from the basics of close-quarter combat until she was 13, later beginning to train her with a sword. Kim, however, couldn't get the hang of it, which at first was irritating the knight to no end. However, as they review the basics to see if Kim missed something, her instructor noticed that she had taken hold of hand to hand combat better than she thought. After a couple of months, the knight brought in someone specialized in such a fighting style, his appearance scaring Kim at first, but after a few lessons, she came enjoy his teaching and company. As they were working towards more advanced techniques in the next couple of years, Kim's teacher noticed how her long hair at the time kept getting in her eyes and messing her up from time to time. As a gift, he got her a white headband, able to keep enough of her hair back to where it didn't bother her at all. It was around that time that she considered him a sort of father figure, and the teacher knew it rather well. Her parents, though, were oblivious to this developing bond... As a lesson, Kim's teacher took her out to explore the lower district. Remembering what those ladies said years ago, Kim was very nervous and on edge. However, as they went along, she could see not everyone there were dangerous cutthroats. In fact, some of them looked rather meek and scared. It threw a lot of things into question as to what everyone in the upper district thought happened down here. Before long, a group of kids appeared and gathered around Kim's teacher, acting as if they were a family. A real family. Then, before Kim could react, he sent the little kids on her, some of them tackling her while others were rather shy. Either way, while spending time with them, Kim's teacher told her of how hard life was for people in the lower district, and how in every society there were similar circumstances. Kim, after experience what she just did, didn't like how things were, earning a surprised expression from her teacher. He didn't think she would have been so easy to convince. Truth was that she was jealous. Those kids were like family, and treated her like family. It was something she never felt like she had. They visited the lower district a few more times until she was 17, bringing food and clothing to those who truly needed it, unknown to her parents that she was using their funds, and unknown to her teacher that she was doing such a thing in the first place. However, one day, Kim's father had her teacher arrested, accusing him of stealing from them and allegedly brainwashing his daughter with rebellious ideals. Kim protested, but no one would listen to her, and she was soon confined to her room. Her only real friend, someone whom she looked up to like a real father, was taken from her by her own blood. She became hostile after that, despite her family actually talking to her since she was a toddler. It was like this for a while until she up and vanished, somehow escaping the guards with little trace as to how she disappeared. Left behind was a note, stating that she had disowned her parents, and never wants to see them again. Although they searched all over the upper district for her, the only thing they found of her was locks of long red hair. About a year since, Kim has taken to life on the streets in the lower district. Although it was a complete 180 from life before leaving, she has done well for herself, little to no one knowing of where she came from, fighting as a rebel with her specialty being 'intelligence gathering' about the upper district. If ever asked if she was in any way related to those up top? "Do I look like I have sympathy for those stuck-up, fat-headed, selfish freaks?" notes OPTIONAL.
