AMBROSIA "A.E. 2060 The world shall fall to ruin as Maxwell cleanses the land." The legendary source of all things, Mana, became corrupted by the wiles of the Goddess Maxwell—a being strung together in Ambrosia, the Center of the World. The Ancients foresaw the destruction of Yumiris, and sealed the malevolent goddess deep within the core of the world.
And, as Gnome's ground trembled and stirred, the oceans dried, and fire bubbled from the land, they vanished from Yumiris—leaving only their descendants, now left to prosper in the ruins that once were great feats of magictechnology and human ingenuity. From the bones of the Old Yumiris rose new nations, left to war over the disappearing Catalysts and dying magic that protects them from the unstable powers of Mana. The premonitions of a land torn in two by Maxwell went forgotten and became jokes and astrology, kingdoms thriving for centuries even as Ragnarok and Baseem fell.
The Ancients would stay mythical figures until a second magitech revolution, booming in 2058. Magicians began to talk then, of the mechanical insides of their world and of Veritas, the cage where Maxwell still sleeps. And so it goes that a strange ship fell into the jungles of Illeia, soon pursued by the countries of the Guilds and the Empire. It carried a girl—snowy hair, electric eyes and nearly aglow in the dark—said to be the voice of the Ancients. "Everything shall be purged, and none spared the anger of the Goddess."

AMBROSIA When the Ancient fell from the forgotten star of Naos, she encountered a young boy who helped her flee from the guards under the direction of General Cassiondra Seychelles. The two fled across the nation to the border of Seit, but the girl fell prey to Micah Flynn, who suspected Zoe of her heirtage and swore to take his knowledge back to the clamoring Rogue's Guild. Bleeding and drained, they separated in the shadowy backalleys of Azul. During her brief stay, and in spite of injuries, she encountered Anatasia Xie while escaping men in pursuit of her and the swan halfling Leras. Meanwhile, in the scorching lands of Eld, the Guilds began to be swept in schemes of attacks against the Empire. Forced to head there for her own sake and reputation, Ashe Diamant monitored the girl's actions (quite accidentally) and became an unwitting player in a slave revolt with Leras at the center. This has caused ripples of dissent, and earned him a name as a crusader of halfling freedom. The Xihe Empire stays balanced and observes as the other superpowers war for dominance, largely divided by a faction that follows the young prince Ha-ou Qiu Yu and a stirring council that distrusts the West. Half the nation asks for the borders to close, fear growing of a conflict brewing on the horizon, while the other insists on trade. The halfling princess Sumire, ignored and left as a servant since birth, set off to discover her background and abandoned her charge. Quickly, Nao-Yeon Lian Hua made plans to find her, in hopes of returning her to the Imperial Palace. Having struck out to follow his own goals, Lucas Karlmann was captured through the designs of General Seychelles and her unknown second-in-command, Darius Eisenberg. Left on a train bound for the capital, the Gladioan Empire hoped to interrogate him for news on the Ancient girl's whereabouts, as well as keep him imprisoned until "more news arrived." Hearing word of this during her travels, Zoe charged after with the assistance of Leras and Voletta Abato, but the General managed to prevent her escape when she fell into a brief spell and swore that the Imperial Captial of Gladiolus is destined to fall. Eventually, Zoe and Karlmann find themselves trapped in the dungeon and at the Empire's furious mercy. RELEVANT THREADS:
