AMBROSIA SPIRIT ARTES ARISE FROM USING CATALYSTS TO CHANNEL MANA. Essentially magical spells or physical attacks, Spirit Artes are associated with the mana of the user's LAND OF BIRTH. For example: if your character was born in Zhi Ming and raised in the Empire, their element would still be EARTH rather than WATER. This is because a certain Summon Spirit governs each of Yumiris's continents, and imbues a person with a specific AFFINITY. Arguably, using artes of a different mana type is not impossible, but they would be LESS EFFECTIVE. Spirit Artes have incredible variety. Some are unique to the individual, whereas others are used throughout Yumiris. They EVOLVE as you—yes, you, the rper—earn more GP through posts, participate in events, and generally make the world of Yumiris a more interesting place to be. They can only be used if equipped with a CATALYST. These are crystals found on Yumiris's surface, and are unique in that only they can successfully STABILIZE AND USE mana. AMBROSIA THEY HAVE A COOLDOWN POST COUNT. Spirit Artes are grouped into three levels: COMMON, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED. Common artes take ONE POST to cool down, arcane artes take TWO POSTS to cool down, and advanced artes take THREE POSTS to cool down. This is to avoid messy problems with cooldowns in the future, and give all you lovely members a standard that everyone must follow. You are free to decide whether you feel an arte falls under common, intermediate, or advanced while creating your character. AMBROSIA MYSTIC ARTES ARE CONSIDERED ADVANCED ARTES. This implies that it takes THREE POSTS to cool down. Mystic artes are typically the strongest arte a character has, and they can only have a maximum of TWO MYSTIC ARTES.
Upon first joining or creating a character, obviously you only get one. These are entirely at your discretion, and are essentially "the one hit wonder" attacks of the Tales Series; they usually have multiple attacks, are incredibly showy and fun to watch, and are unique to your character. Our only request is that they be powerful. Other than that, we're leaving how you craft them entirely up to you.
If you ever want to get particularly creative with your writing, you can combine mystic artes with those of other characters. The point is to bring the spirit of the Tales Series into AMBROSIA itself; don't spend too much time mulling over the details of mystic artes. They are in good fun, and nothing else. (Which, that said, if you don't want one then you aren't required to create one.)
