[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=style, width:450px;,bTable] NAME Jun Lokuan AGE 24 RACE Human FACTION Rogue - Non Canon MY NAME IS JUN LOKUAN, AND MY AFFINITY IS WIND. MY SECONDARY ELEMENTAL IS SPIRIT. I AM HETEROSEXUAL AND I AM PLAYED BY TSIN. personality + Calm, Optimistic, Dutiful, Moral - Whimsical, Often Lacking in Common Sense, Rather Dense, Quite Naive There is a sort of person who will always peer into the depths of an alleyway clearly marked with a “No Trespassing” sign. These people might also attempt to pet any animal that passes them by as they walk along, even if that animal clearly has no interest in human interaction aside from perhaps the devouring sort. Whether by choice or by nature, these are the people who are unbound by concerns over such petty things as ‘rules,’ or ‘logic,’ or ‘common sense;’ any and every opportunity for discover deserving some kind of chance despite warnings to the contrary. Jun is... not one of these people, but is normally in such close proximity to that kind of person that anybody looking from the outside might not even notice any sort of difference. True to form, he has quite the penchant for wandering into both publicly open and off-limit areas regardless of most signage telling him not to-- blame the tendencies on a strange mixture of optimism and thick-headedness. Some might even refer to it more simply as a kind of naivety, a firm belief that kindness and understanding will resolve even the most wild of misunderstandings... and those people wouldn’t necessarily be wrong. His parents did well in driving the customs and beliefs of the Xihe into him though, even if he wasn’t born and raised there. As a result, Jun is always polite and apologetic when discovered, reporting honestly about his presence and his intentions, almost always ones of mere exploration and without any malice. A shame that nobody ever believes him. There was a bit of a problem there when he was bounty hunting for the guild though... Nobody ever likes hearing they're going to be brought in for a sackful of gald, and the wanderer never felt quite right lying about it, no matter how much simpler it would've made his life. He didn’t much like hunting people either, come to think of it. Much against his code of honor and morals. These things aside, Jun otherwise presents himself as an exceedingly calm, occasionally observant, and always helpful individual, qualities often treasured in guild hunters and mercenaries alike. Cheerfully calm though, in a manner that might border on socially awkward on some occasions when it isn’t exactly called for or appropriate. Still, he considers his duties very seriously in his own unique way, another sign of his cultural heritage, even if he doesn’t always make that completely evident. history The story of Jun is one that should truly begin with his mother and father, citizens of Xihe in an easier time, when the bounties of the Crystal Valley were without end and the political climate was at peace. Recently wed to one another in a ceremony that neither would hesitate to describe as ‘pure bliss’, Jie Lokuan and his beautiful bride, Lian, never considered for an instant the possibility of leaving their home. Questioning any neighbor or friend only elicited responses vividly describing the couple’s passion for all elements of their mother country and the excitement they held for raising a child in the place that they had also been raised, sharing the scenery and rich cultural heritage that made them the very people they were today. However, their hopes and dreams began to falter just as the Emperor’s health did-- The weakening sovereign wasn’t the true cause of their concern as, being mortal, he must come and go as all do. Instead, it was the political turmoil in the council that made Jie and Lian worried, unrest and disputes in the governing body infecting the populace with insidious insecurities and displeasure as they went on. Though they tried to shelter themselves and their unborn child from the issues of the day, rumors of war with the west began circulating and, soon enough, hovered like a dreadful smoke over every one of their thoughts, clouding their mind with the promise of an inferno to come.In such a situation, why wait to take your family to another, safer, land, if possible? So, tearfully, Jie and Lian bid their old family and friends adieu and set off. Theoretically moving to the west would be no better than living at home if the rumblings of conflict did indeed come to pass... There was a certain place available to the pair that warranted some attention though. World-renowned for its wishy-washy neutrality, laidback nature and fun-loving people, it was quite a change from the honor-bound and authoritative climate they had just left, but it wasn’t an unwelcome change necessarily. The Xihese pair arrived here first and, immediately taken by the rambunctious but joyfully welcoming citizens, they settled: Azul, from deeply rooted in the grounds of Gnome to flying high in the winds of Sylph. Jun Lokuan was born here, just a couple of months after the arrival of his mother and father. Up until this point, the family income had been somewhat mixed-- Savings from their time in Xihe and some meager earnings from Jie’s martial arts lessons to a few of the interested dock workers with an interesting past, perhaps having seen it performed at one point in their life and only now having the time and opportunity to learn a little bit for themselves. However, the newly minted parents knew that they would eventually have to find something more permanent, especially now with the arrival of another person to feed, some heavy pressure stemming from that tiny little body with its wonder-filled eyes and constantly curious babbles. The perpetual rumble of activity at the harbor was always looking for somebody to keep the sharks of commerce at bay luckily, and already with some friends in the area, it was a natural fit for Jie. Though only the older man worked there, Jun practically grew up on those docks as well, always wanting to hang out with his dad as adolescent boys are inclined to do. And while Jie was somewhat against it, after seeing how easily his son’s never-ending curiosity and childlike bravado has charmed all the other regulars, brawny docksmen and women alike, he allowed it on most occasions so long as the boy didn’t get himself into too much trouble... which was a tall order on most occasions. From an early age, Jun had a bad habit of wandering off, always wanting to see what was around that next corner, up on those boxes or just through the doors of that shop over there, what kind of sights and sounds and smells awaited? Nothing lay out of bounds either-- He wasn’t just a child of physical journeys but one of mental too, fantastic landscapes laid out in his imagination as inspired by the books that came through the port. Truly the real-world education of the docks was better than that of almost any school. In certain aspects at least. Jun’s penchant for wandering didn’t quite fade away either, as his parents somewhat hoped that it would as he grew into a teenager. Partially they blamed themselves; certainly this was never an issue in their childhood in Xihe. Moving to this crazy place with all the stimulus of commerce and sky pirates had changed their innocent little boy in strange ways... But they weren’t wholly opposed to it either. Though he came home in the evenings and helped cooked a traditional Xihese dinner alongside one parent and practiced the martial forms alongside the other (never necessarily the same parent each time either), Jun was truly a spirit born of Azul. … But it was still a bit of a surprise when the young man, now 18, announced that he was going to join the Hunter’s Guild. Perhaps not as much as it should’ve been, a strapping young lad with a history of wanderlust, trained in combat by his parents strictly for fitness and self defense purposes they said, setting his sights on a group of what he considered to be “professional journeymen.” There was discussion of course, there was some arguing as should have been expected, but at the end, there was acceptance. Jie and Lian both knew there was a day coming where their son would run off on his own even if they hoped it was in a more peaceful fashion than the reality; the most they could do is see him off with love in their hearts, a spear on his back and a precious catalyst in his hands, a parting gift from the valleys of Xihe. On most occasions, joining the Hunter’s Guild is something of a task.. or rather, joining the Hunter’s Guild in its entirety can be a breeze, but finding a crew to throw your lot in with is the task. On this occasion however, Jun already had himself set up with something. Not an entirely random decision, the leader of a nice little group had somewhat scouted the young man back at the port of his hometown, amused that somebody would just meander into the hull of his ship and start looking around of his own accord. Not too bad in a fight either as other crewmembers found out soon enough, taking up arms to repel the stowaway only to find themselves stowed away, by force, into their own lockers and crates. Probably he should’ve been rather annoyed, but the leader of the crew just laughed at the scene, making sure that the stranger on board meant no harm. Then, with all the misunderstandings put to rest, Jun was welcomed on board any time. Now, he looked to be welcomed on with some level of permanence. Or so was the intention anyways. For years he did the jobs that came his way, and for the most part he did them happily. Upon growing into his adulthood, he reflected back on the young man who considered members of the Hunter’s Guild to be professional wanderers and could not say that he was wrong. Those times and places that the entire guild gathered at large were more than incredible too- confidently, the present-day Jun could say that he had friends of all shapes and sizes all across the world now. But not all was perfect-- There was a dark side to the life of wonder... Bounty Hunting, to be specific. Despite his best efforts to separate himself from the target, he could never help but wonder about their stories. Worse off, he began inquiring on occasions, learning more and more of the lovers, friends and children of those he captured and handed over for monetary gain. Their lives haunted his dreams at night just as he hunted them during the day, and unable to bare it any longer, he left. Even in all those days and all those jobs though, Jun Lokuan never quite worked out his wanderlust. The former Hunter built up quite a laundry list of connections in his time though, thanks in no small part to the judicious application of smiles and a calm tone of voice. Enough, perhaps to strike out on a career as a sort of independent mercenary, taking all jobs from cave-diving and protection to walking the neighborhood pets. Whether this functioned as a method of making a living for an adult male, well, that had yet to be seen. But as long as he could continue wandering, Jun was okay with it. notes OPTIONAL. Nothing to add at this time. LANCER - FATE/PROTOTYPE - JUN LOKUAN |
